GEN Agency, REACH Host a Hands-on Name, Image, and Likeness Summit at the University of Michigan

The Creator-Driven Summit Gave Michigan Influencers the Opportunity to  Learn How to Thrive in the Creator Economy

Ann Arbor, Michigan (April 24, 2024) – Yesterday, GEN Agency, a Los Angeles-based influencer marketing agency, hosted an influencer marketing and name, image, and likeness (NIL) educational summit for University of Michigan influencers in partnership with REACH. This is the first event cohosted by GEN Agency and REACH and serves as their partnership's inaugural activation to serve influencers and athletes through the marketing and NIL space.

The summit broke down into several parts and began with GEN Agency founder Rachel Maeng Brown giving a short presentation about how NIL fits into influencer marketing. This presentation covered how athletes can work with brands, get paid fairly, and optimize each deal.

"As a former Big Ten athlete (rowing coxswain) at Rutgers University, the success of Big Ten athletes and students is incredibly important to me," said Maeng Brown. "In a changing creator economy, it is critical that we reach as many individuals as possible to expand their influencer and NIL knowledge. We did that with today's innovative event and will continue with ongoing partnerships with all REACH university chapters and interested athletic departments, collectives, and agencies nationwide."

After the brand intensive, Maeng Brown moderated a panel discussion about marketing and sports careers with former NFL and UFL player Isaiah N Johnson, current GEN Agency influencer-partner Brendan Kortz, REACH's influencer Adam Meskouri, and Vivek Pandit, founder of PeduL.

"We didn't talk about any of these topics during my time as a college athlete," said Johnson. "We didn't talk about marketing and how to maximize your personal brand. We had some great panelists here that are experts in the field. Gaining this information is second to none. I wish I did have these resources when I was an active player."

The day closed with a presentation where attendees learned about the specifics of brand deals, including how to price themselves. This valuable information is often not widely shared in the creator economy and will set these athletes and students up for success.
