Players Health Taps Former Grand Canyon University Coach Jake Lindsey to Head Basketball NIL Efforts
Hire reflects growing need for NIL and insurance alignment as programs adapt to post-House settlement era
MINNEAPOLIS – (June 5, 2025) - Players Health, a leading provider of athlete safety and insurance solutions, has announced the strategic addition of Jake Lindsey as Senior Basketball Advisor. A current member of Players Health’s Advisory Board, Lindsey will offer valuable guidance for the firm’s NIL strategy, implementing a deep understanding of the college basketball landscape and effective communication with general managers, coaches, and athletic directors.
A former Baylor University guard, Lindsey has built a career immersed in the college basketball world. Most recently, he served as an assistant coach at Grand Canyon University, helping lead the program to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Prior to that, he worked in college scouting for the Utah Jazz, following a successful internship with the team. This combination of on-court experience and front-office insight positions Lindsey as a strategic asset as Players Health deepens its presence in collegiate athletics.
“Players Health is constantly looking for ways to stay ahead of the curve in college athletics due to its dynamic nature,” said Tyrre Burks, Founder & CEO of Players Health. “Bringing Jake on our team ensures we don’t remain stagnant in this ever-evolving market. His extensive knowledge will bring a fresh perspective to this transformative era, offering insights and nuances that other industry leaders cannot match. The hire will prove to be revolutionary as we continue to integrate our core mission of keeping athletes safe above all else.”
As the NCAA world anticipates House Settlement approval, Players Health recognizes the role that industry expertise plays in college sports. With the NIL market expected to continue growing, Players Health is well-positioned to grow alongside it, offering leading insurance solutions for athletes and leveraging Lindsey’s strong collegiate relationships.
“Basketball has shaped every chapter of my life. It’s taught me resilience, allowed me to build lifelong relationships, and given me a deep appreciation for the challenges athletes face,” said Lindsey. “I’ve lived in this world as a player, a coach, and now as a partner to athletic programs facing unprecedented change. That perspective gives me a unique ability to help schools and athletes move forward. Meeting this moment requires solutions grounded in experience, built on trust, and guided by a clear understanding of what success looks like today.”
This announcement comes two months after Players Health announced the addition of Adrian Wojnarowski to its NIL Advisory Board, further highlighting the firm’s drive to strategically blend insurance and sports.
