Micconope 1851 Teams With Seminole Legend Marvin Jones to Unveil Career Resource Center for All FSU Student-Athletes
Tallahassee, FL - (May, 9th, 2023): Today, Micconope 1851 LLC, an NIL platform focused on the long- term professional and life skill development of Florida State University student- athletes, announces the Marvin Jones LASER Center. LASER is an acronym for Life After Sports Employment Resource. The center will provide career guidance, resume writing services, interview coaching, networking events and direct access to Seminole owned or managed businesses through an alumni job posting portal all catered to the unique career needs of the student-athlete. These services will be provided as a direct benefit of the student-athlete's name, image, likeness (NIL).
The Marvin Jones LASER Center will employ human resource professionals to provide dedicated guidance to the student-athletes throughout their career path. These services will be initially provided virtually prior to the opening of LASER’s permanent physical home on North Monroe Street within walking distance of campus. The permanent home is scheduled to open in November 2023. A dedication and ribbon cutting gala is scheduled on November 9th, 2023.
On the announcement, Micconope 1851 CEO Mike Underwood stated, “We could not be more proud of our work in the NIL space and the amazing opportunity to partner with a true Seminole legend in Marvin Jones. We recognized early that NIL could do far more than just provide monetary earnings.” Underwood went on to say, “We know all too well a successful career search requires resources, but also a tenacity and relentless spirit. We knew Marvin exemplified these traits and will embody the LASER mission.” On the collaboration between Micconope 1851 and himself, Marvin Jones added, “I will definitely do anything asked of myself to show my commitment to Micconope1851 and of a shared commitment for a better future for our athletes!” Added board member and alum, Allen Beyer, “This is what NIL should be about. The effects of the ability to access career resources will pay dividends to these young people long after their collegiate careers are over.”
